Q 4. Answer in short:
(a) Differentiate between the forest types
of Brazil and India.
Ans: Being an equatorial region Brazil experiences rains throughout the year and evergreen forests are found in the area where it rains throughout the year.
In India, regions which receive more than 2000 mm of rainfall on an average along with abundant sunlight , evergreen forests are found.In regions receiving rainfall between 1000 mm to 2000 mm in India, deciduous forests are found. There is o deciduous forest in Brazil.
(b) Correlate wildlife and natural vegetation in India and Brazil.
Ans: 1. As par the Geographical conditions in India and Brazil,  a variety of natural vegetation can be seen and according to natural vegetation,  a variety in wildlife can be seen.
2. A large number of herbivores and carnivores are found in thw grasslands of Brazil like Savannah and the deciduous forests of India.
3. A large number of birds, insects,  reptiles along with herbivores and carnivores are found in the dense evergreen forests of India in the west, northeast and Amazon Basin of Brazil.
4. Coastal forests and swamy areas of Pantanal and Sunderbans have mangroves,  a variety of birds, dishes and reptiles like crocodiles,  alligators and the anacondas in Brazil.
5. Vegetation provides food and shelter to wildlife but id vegetation is limited like in Thar desert or Caatinga it will also limit the variety of animals species.

(c) What environmental issues are faced by Brazil and India?
Ans: 1. Degradation od environment is happening in Brazil due to illegal smuggling of wild animals  slash and burn agricultural, deforestation,  pollution etc.
2. Due to these problems many endemic species are on the verge of extinction.
3.India too faces Environmental issues such as poaching, pollution and the fast spreading deforestation.
Many species of the wildlife are on the verge of extinction in India.

(d) What are the major causes of degradation of forests in Brazil and India?
Ans: 1.Forests are being cut down as more area is required to expand the cities  to full fill the need of accommodation for the increasing population.
2. To ensure continuous food supply to meet the needs of the ever increasing population, more area is brought under agriculture.
3. Forests  are cut for the domestic purpose also.
4. The forest fire, overgrazing  these are also the reasons of degradation.
