Ans: The small states that came in to existence in north India in the post-vedic period were known as Janapadas.

2. What is meant by Mahajanpadas?
Ans: Those strong Janapadas which became expansionist and enlarged their geo-graphical area were known as Mahajanpadas.

3. Where was the first Buddhist Council held?
Ans: The first Buddhist council was held at Rajgriha.

Ans: The rulers of Nanda dynasty introduced the system of standard weights and measures.
